Franco-Arab Film Festival
In collaboration with the Royal Film Commission and the Amman International Film Festival, the French Institute of Jordan celebrated the 26th anniversary of the Franco-Arab Film Festival (FFFA), from August 23 to 31, 2021.
This year, we made the decision to integrate the AIFF by having a section dedicated to Franco-Arab cinema. Negotiations began on April 20, 2021 with Nada Doumani, the director of the festival. A project for a convention began in May and after several returns from both parties the convention was signed on July 23, 2021 between the AIFF and the IFJ. On the program, 4 feature films and 4 short films were presented to the Jordanian public.
The main objective of the section is to present recent and quality Franco-Arab productions as well as to promote and develop meetings between Jordanians and guests of the festival.
The screenings took place at the Drive In cinema at the Boulevard, at the Taj Mall cinema and finally at the RFC. COVID 19 has hit the film industry hard. Consequently, Franco-Arab production films were few. These circumstances hampered the programming.
